“Happiness” – Godiva World View

“It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.” – Agnes Repplier

HAPPINESS, that’s today’s topic du jour because it is such an elusive, desirable, intangible ‘thing’ that many will seek but few will find.

Nearly all my life I have been told that I possess a seemingly happy, bubbly, jovial spirit and/or personality; that I always appear to be an all around happy person.  I guess for the most part that assessment is accurate but I often wonder why or how is that possible when so many are searching for happiness.

I learned a long time ago that happiness is a state, a place in time internal within the core of our beings.  True happiness does not come from the tangible things, those material possessions we like to cling to which don’t get me wrong a nice pair of shoes or shopping or nice dinner or fantastic vacation can bring bouts of elation but NOT true happiness.  So, too, does the company of another, a lover, and/or other can bring feel good moments but NOT true happiness.

See, TRUE HAPPINESS comes from within and begins with the core of each of us, who we are when alone in our thoughts.  It comes from realizing that we define and create our own happiness by first finding inner peace; by acknowledging that LIFE will and DOES happen; accepting that bad things do sometimes happen to good people; in accepting our flaws, strengths, wants, needs, and desires.  When we have a clear understanding of WHO we are from deep within the depths of our center then WE can experience TRUE happiness.

As nothing is 100%, neither is one’s internal happiness as we must by virtue of living and being human beings experience the myriad of emotions bestowed upon us to feel, connect, and to live!  However, if we experience pure happiness – internal, true happiness – then we have achieved what most search for every day.  It’s the ability to see life as it is and love it anyway.  It is NOT being defined by those things that happen to us or around us.  It is taking ourselves at face value and loving ourselves ANYWAY.

So, how does one tap into their inner peace and happiness?  That answer is most likely as unique to each individual as our fingerprints.  For me, my happiness comes from embracing life in all of its forms; in engaging in things that create experiences that lead to memories – that which I can feel at the mere thought –  versus things that are more of a tangible nature; creating little miracles by helping another in any way i can in order to make a difference.  My happiness comes from the inner core of myself that guides me day-to-day be it in the company of others or alone with my thoughts.  See, when you create your own happiness you never have to search for it or look to another to provide it as it is always with you.

Get your happy by looking within and living for something bigger than yourself!  Take the ownership of ‘Happiness’ from others and put the responsibility on its rightful owner – YOU!!!
