Inspirational Quote of the Day (Wed, 12 Sept 2012)
To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have livedthis is to have succeeded. – Bessie Anderson Stanley
Life’s reward is not derived from the material possessions one obtains as much as from the mini-miracles in life, people, experiences, love, and relationships. We’ve all heard the old adage “it is better to give than tis to receive” for it is my belief that giving renders greater rewards that contribute to a full, well-rounded, feel good life. Additionally, my view has always been to focus on the positive in others and situations for dwelling on the negatives or curve balls of life often creates just that – more negatives.
As challenging as these weeks o’mine have been (due to an extremely chaotic project) my days are always better by a simple smile or a chuckle shared with another. My mom used to say, “you have to smile to keep from crying” and some days that is more truth to that than in it being “Wednesday” today.
I had high hopes of reaching some of my defined goals this week and as life often does, “she” had other plans. So, I hit the marks I could and celebrated those mini-wins while reassessing the misses. As we often put the greatest pressures on ourselves for a myriad of reasons without taking time to pause for our successes, I am learning to release the choke hold and give myself room to breathe, fall, stumble. It is at this mid-point of each week, when i take a moment to say “good job” (to myself) that helps me get through the rest of the week with a feeling of accomplishment.
So onward, to finishing out the week strong, positive, and all while crossing of our life’s to-do list!
